Discussed briefly the last meeting for those who were unable to attend, what it is about and how to improve practice/patient relationship. Points raised: to tidy waiting room areas eg. posters on walls and décor, practice web site and on-line registration, GP to attend meetings, to provide tea/coffee and biscuits.
DNA (did not attend) appointments are a big problem; the amount had in January was 104. How to manage – eg. sending text messages and the possibility of confirming or cancelling (looking into restarting), sending out letters to those who miss appointment, putting alerts on patients records. To find out how much a missed appointment costs.
Discussed the feedback from the short survey, mostly happy with practice main issue being unable to get appointments. For GPs to review the feedbacks. Family and Friends cards have the same response.
Although happy with seating in the waiting rooms some chairs could be higher or offer a booster seat for certain patients that need it eg: after an operation.
To consider the strobing effect the fan causes when the lights are on in the waiting room which can affect some patients.
Ensuring mobile phones are not used in the waiting room.
Will see if a GP will attend for some of the meeting in future.
Car parking was mentioned as the car park may be closed or a payment system (will be giving 3 months’ notice) ? alternative parking.
Flu vaccination clinics - suggestion of help with promoting earlier to vaccinate patients sooner into the flu season, open clinics work well.
Blood test to be available at the surgery again, but cannot envisage in the near future.
Try to invite more patients onto the group to get views from a diverse section of the patient population.
Talked about the new Out Of Hours Service to be at the City of Coventry Health Centre where booked appointments can be made from the surgery for patients to be seen evenings and weekends.
Next meeting Monday 23rd May at 11.00
